pieceHomes are designed by Davis Studio Architecture + Design (dsA+D), the husband and wife design team of architect Jonathan Davis and designer Mary Jo Davis.

Jonathan Davis is a licensed California Architect with more than 20 years of experience and brings a unique perspective to each project. As a young architect, Jonathan worked at Gehry and Associates contributing to such project as the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the German Utility Building, one of the first green buildings in Europe. Prior to forming dsA+D, he had a solo practice in which he designed and built projects throughout the United States. His first custom home, designed over 20 years ago, was built to a high green standard. The house incorporated solar hot water panels, geo-thermal wells for heating and cooling, heat-recovery units behind the fireplaces, as well as a self-contained sewage treatment plant that put out pure water right at the lakefront and used recycled brick throughout the house. Jonathan was also the general contractor on the job -- so he knows green inside and out. In fact, you could say that building is in his blood. Jonathan was born in London, England into a family that owns the second oldest family owned building business in England and knew from an early age that he was to be an architect. He went on to complete his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and his Master of Architecture at SCI-ARC, Southern California Institute of Architecture with an additional year at Architectural Association in London, England.

Mary Jo (Kovarik) Davis is a designer and art director with more than 16 years experience in print, web, interactive design, and interior design. Prior to forming dsA+D, she worked at Microsoft Corporation as Art Director/Group Manager for the Sports Games Group in Redmond, WA. Overseeing a team of 25 artists working on 3D models, 2D and 3D animation, and user interface designs, she published 11 PC games titles in five years. Before Microsoft, she worked as Art Director/Designer at Ted Mader + Associates in Seattle, WA, where she worked on national and international print projects including book design to package design. She received her BFA in Graphic Design at the University of Washington. Pursuing her love of fine art, she later studied Art Restoration in Florence, Italy. In between design projects, Mary Jo is a fine artist who has shown and sold work at group shows in the Los Angeles area.
